11-18-2015: Crews have completed much of the restoration work. There is still some landscaping to do in the bike trail area at the west end of the project connecting to the Forest Preserve path and certain landscaping items will have to be completed next year because of planting time restrictions.
The contractor will start work on a retaining wall on the west side of Twin Ponds next week, weather permitting.
ComEd is scheduled to relocate some of their poles that are in conflict between Twin Ponds Road and Oak Hill Road on the north side of Roberts Road in the next month. Once poles are relocated, the sidewalk gaps and grading can be completed in this area, weather permitting.
Please use caution when driving through the construction zone. Watch for workers and trucks entering and leaving the construction zone.
10-23-2015: The new River Road at Roberts Road intersection is now open to traffic!
Please drive slowly and be alert approaching and driving through the intersection as some motorists are new to this driving pattern.

We thank you all for your patience during this project and hope you come to enjoy the new, more efficient River Road at Roberts Road intersection.
There is still more work that needs to be done in relation to the project, but nothing that will require closure of the intersection.
Thank you and please drive safe out there!
The River Road at Roberts Road intersection improvement project is located in the Village of Lake Barrington within Lake County. The interior lane of the roundabout will be 11 feet wide and the outer lane will be 18 feet. The interior circle will have mountable curb and gutter to allow truck movements to utilize the 10 foot truck apron to be installed on the interior. The interior landscaped island of the roundabout will be a 27 foot radial circle. A decorative retaining wall will be constructed along the north side of the roundabout.
The project extends approximately 1000 feet east and west along Roberts Road and an additional 800 feet south along River Road. A proposed path on the south side of Roberts Road will be constructed as part of this project. The path will begin at the property line of the Lake County Forest Preserve District in the southwest and extend to the intersection where it will cross to the north and to the east of the roundabout to provide connectivity to the Fox River Forest Preserve which is separated by Roberts Road. A six foot sidewalk will be constructed along the north edge of the roundabout to provide connectivity for the Twin Ponds subdivision located off of Oak Hills Road to the northeast. This sidewalk will continue to the east along Roberts Road and connect to Twin Ponds Road. All pedestrian accommodations will be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
This project is led by the Lake County Division of Transportation with funding from the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Program as administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
Partnering agencies for the project also include the Lake County Forest Preserve District and the Village of Lake Barrington.
